Rock
The commonest block in the game, and half of every early recipe. Your hands can break it, slowly.
Rock (and Sandstone, which counts as rock in recipes) goes into your first tools, your Smelter, your Campfire and plenty more. Bare hands can break it, but at an eighth of the speed. Make a Pick as soon as you can.
