How Power Works
Generators make it, conduit carries it, banks and batteries store it, and machines and ships spend it.
The generator ladder
| Generator | Runs on | Ore number that matters | Output |
|---|---|---|---|
| Generator | Fuel ore and coal | Combustion | 1 to 6 /s raw ore, 2.1× that on coal |
| Wind Rotor | Wind | Hardness of its blades | 3.3 to 9.5 /s in a gale |
| Solar Array | Daylight | Reactivity of its panels | 4 to 11 /s in full sun |
| Geothermal Tap | The deep | None | 12 /s, never stops |
| Reactor | Fuel rods | Energy of the rod | 8 to 24 /s for 1.5 to 4.5 minutes per rod |
Getting it where it's needed
- Power Conduit (placed Wire) joins machines into a grid.
- Anything that can hand over power (a generator, a Power Bank, a Battery Dock with a cell in it) supplies the grid.
- A Battery carries power away from the grid: fill it at a base, empty it into a ship.
- A Charging Pad tops up whatever you're wearing.
